Al Jazeera’s exclusive report: How the construction of a tower blocks off a walkable waterfront
The view apartments at Stonebridge in Brookside, north-west of Sydney, were built on the edge of a walkway that runs from the waterfront to the harbour.
It was one of the first buildings of its kind in Australia, but the apartments are now one of a handful in the country.
Al Jazeera travelled to the site to understand how the development came to be.

Each terrace has a view out onto the harbour and into the harbour from the second floor.
The ground floor is an office, dining room and reception area with a rooftop garden.
The second floor houses a restaurant and the rooftop garden has a swimming pool.
The third floor houses an office and an indoor fitness centre.
All of the buildings are terraced, and they are separated by a large glass screen separating them from the rest of the site.
There are no public facilities on the third floor.
“We wanted to create something that is completely separate from the other buildings on the site,” said Peter Lattin, who is overseeing the project.
“It is a bit like a fortress that is a kind of a fortress, and you don’t get into the courtyard.”
The view has been constructed on the north side of the property, which has a high profile on the waterfront.
Latten has used a combination of glass, concrete and other materials to create the buildings.
He said he was looking for an aesthetic that would allow the view apartments to stand out from other residential developments.
“One of the reasons that we did that was because there was no view in the first place,” he said.

“There was just a little bit of that for a little while and then we had to look more closely at the views and see what would be appropriate for that site,” he explained.
“If you are building a lot for a long time, then you have to think about what will be appropriate.”
Latt-Lattin said he knew that the view was not suitable for the current development, and the site was suitable for future development.
“I think it is a little extreme in terms of height.
We are not really into that,” he continued.
“But, if you have the opportunity to do that, I think that is going to be an amazing opportunity to build something that will be a wonderful place for the community and be really beautiful.”
The construction site The view building at Stonebridges site has been developed from scratch.
The architects used the design of the historic Stonebridge Mansion to build the structure.
The building has a front entrance and a back entrance, which leads to the waterfront, and a private dock.
The front entrance leads into a private terrace, while the back entrance leads onto a patio.
The terrace is divided by a glass screen.
The glass screen separates the view apartment from the adjacent residential development.
The site is on a peninsula that is separated from the harbour by a footpath.
It is located on the eastern end of the peninsula and about two hours’ drive north of Sydney.
The views from the view The view development site has the same height as the neighbouring residential development, but is about two kilometres from the edge, to the west.
The height difference between the two developments is about 50 centimetres.
The land was initially owned by a family trust and the developers have worked with the local community to make sure it has a place for future residential development and recreation.
The developers are planning a large residential development with shops and restaurants.
The plans to build two residential towers have not yet been finalised, and it is unclear when they will be.
Lottin said the architects would need to have the building completed before it could proceed.
“The architects will have to do a bit of work to get those towers built and that is one of our concerns,” he noted.
“And we are in a bit more of a holding period, and we have been in contact with the developers, so hopefully that will happen in the near future.”
The project has been approved by the Planning Commission and it will be allowed to go ahead.
